EFTTA was represented by CEO Jean-Claude Bel and Environmental and Fisheries Legal Advisor Anna Szczodrowska at the 24th General Assembly of the European Anglers Alliance (EAA).
Important issues discussed by the Sea and Rivers sub-groups included impending EU legislation with regards to sea fisheries, which all have an impact on recreational fisheries, and also the negative effects on fish stocks from cormorants.
EAA President, Fred Bloot, opened the final session by stressing the unique qualities of recreational fisheries in Europe and the importance of increasing participation among the younger generation. He invited EAA and EFTTA representatives to do all they can to promote the sport on social media platforms to reach a wider audience.
The efforts of EFTTA and the EAA over the last year were also highlighted, including the organisation of three events in the European Parliament that brought together EU policy-makers, anglers and other relevant stakeholders.
