Delegates attending the EFTTA Annual General Assembly (AGA) were given an insight into a European-wide initiative to teach 30,000 youngsters responsible fishing over the next five years.
Raúl Roca, of Spain-based AZ Trading, explained how the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) backed scheme was already operating in a number of countries in the region.
The emphasis is placed on education and respect for the environment – including avoiding plastic contamination of the seas.
Raúl called on the industry to support the Kids School project, telling those at the meeting: "It is in all of our interests to invest and support responsible participation to keep our businesses thriving."
